When Casino Nova Scotia Halifax Opens

Each part of the casino on the Halifax waterfront keeps its own hours, all given in Atlantic time. Choose a time and a day, and the flag mast below raises one flag for every zone open at that moment.

Main floor tables

Live tables on the main floor run every day from 2 PM to 3 AM. The lineup covers Blackjack, Roulette, Free Bet Blackjack and Ultimate Texas Hold'em. Let it Ride joins them on Friday and Saturday only, so plan around that if it is your game. Those hours belong to the live tables alone, not to the rest of the building.

Table minimums are not fixed. They depend on how busy the casino is, and the same goes for which games are open at a given moment. The Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation counted 28 tables at the Halifax casino, as of April 2025. If one particular game matters to you, check before you head out.

The high-limit area

The high-limit area keeps its own schedule: every day from 5 PM to 4 AM. Its tables offer Blackjack, Roulette, Ruyi Baccarat and Ultimate Texas Hold'em. Of the zones with published hours, it is the last to close. It also starts later than the main floor tables, which begin at 2 PM. If a late walk back along the boardwalk is in your plans, see the casino's own site for its holiday hours first.

Poker, Wednesday to Saturday

Poker runs Wednesday to Saturday, from 4 PM to 2 AM. Two games are dealt: No Limit Texas Hold'em, plus Pot-Limit Omaha. No session starts on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday, so an evening visit on those days will miss it.

In Nova Scotia, live poker is offered only at the Halifax casino. Players driving in from Truro or Wolfville for a game have no other room in the province to aim for. Check the day before you set out.

Slots and electronic tables

The Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation counted 587 slot machines at the Halifax casino, as of April 2025. Electronic tables add $3 Craps and $5 Blackjack for anyone who prefers a screen to a dealer.

What the casino does not publish is when the slot floor opens. The table, high-limit and poker hours above do not apply to the slots. Holiday hours are not posted either, so check greatcanadian.com, the casino's own site, for them. If you plan a late walk on the boardwalk, phone 902-425-7777 first to confirm.
